Mr Vu served 22 years in the South Vietnamese Army, helping the United States during the Vietnam conflict. He and his family came to the US in 1982, where he lived in Louisiana. In 1983 he moved to Ohio before settling down in Virginia in 1986. He retired from St Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in 2001 after 11 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Sang Thi Vu; two daughters, Tuyet Vu and Hong Vu and husband, Lai Nguyen; three sons, Thai Vu and wife, Vicky Trinh, Ninh Vu, and Vinh Vu; nine grandchildren, Paul Nguyen, Mary Malaguti and husband, Justin, Peter Nguyen, Duy Nguyen, Khank Nguyen, Vivian Vu, John Vu, Ivy Vu, Quynh Vu; and a great granddaughter, Sophia Malaguti. He was godfather to Father Thuan Phan and Father Phong Nguyen.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 6-8:00 pm at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 at St Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 10:30 am, interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
