Thomas J Harris

Thomas Joseph Harris, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2017, in Fredericksburg, Virginia, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Washington, D.C. on April 24, 1929, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked for the Virginia Electric Power Company, from which he retired. He then moved to Florida to spend many happy years with his high school sweetheart. Later, he returned to his native Virginia to spend his remaining years with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. “Pop-Pop,” as he was affectionately called by his family, enjoyed reading, crosswords, and sports, especially football and the Washington Redskins.

He is survived by his children, Steve and wife Sondra, Jere and wife Patti, and Kelly Hess and husband John; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved companion, Glenna; his brothers, Jimmy, Danny, and Jack; and a granddaughter.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mary Washington Hospice.
