Ryland “Bud” D Wiseman Jr, age 83 of Stafford, Virginia passed away at Mary Washington Hospital on Saturday, October 23, 2021. He was born in Roanoke, Virginia, the son of the late Ryland D Wiseman Sr and Pearl R Wiseman.
Bud was a graduate of the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute followed by the University of Maryland, College Park. He worked as a mechanical engineer for over 40 years at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, VA retiring in 2001. During his career he served in many engineering and management roles and was awarded multiple patents for a helicopter escape system. After retiring he ran a small online hobby supply business for many years and enjoyed spending time in the Shenandoah Valley. Lifelong interests included philately and trains.
He is survived by two sons, David Wiseman of Reston, Virginia; Matthew Wiseman of Fredericksburg, Virginia; a daughter Sarah Wiseman Edgar of Tampa, Florida and four grandsons.
In August, he was preceded in death by Elizabeth Lacy Wiseman, his beloved wife of 57 years, whom he diligently cared for during her many years of poor health.
The family will hold a graveside service at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Saturday October, 30, 2021 at 10 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to the Presbyterian Children’s Home of the Highlands, Wytheville, Virginia.
