Robert Thurman Sowers

Robert Thurman Sowers, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at his home in Fredericksburg, VA. He was born on June 20, 1952 to Herbert Sowers and Marion (Stred) Arduini. Robert served in the U.S. Army from April 1971 to March 1973. He was a computer technician for Sperry Univac and eventually went on to work for the Federal Government until his retirement. He traveled the world in his career, and had seen over 20 countries. He was a lover of music, and played guitar his entire life. He was a devoted Christian, and it showed in his infectious smile and the way he always greeted everyone with a hug. He spent his life serving the Lord. Predeceased by his mother Marion L. Arduini; his daughter: Baby Girl Sowers and four brothers: David, Raymond, Russell and Robert Marsh. Survivors include three children: Eric Sowers of Woodbridge, VA, Curtis Sowers and wife Jessica of Bealeton, VA and Shelly Sincoskie of New Hill, NC; brothers: Bill Sowers and wife Dawn of Virginia, Pat Sowers of Virginia, Rick Sowers and wife Nancy of Tampa, FL, Jim Marsh of Virginia and Wayne Marsh of Mississippi; sister: Darlene Nomina and husband Michael of Florida; grandchildren: Rhyan and Koryn of North Carolina; Curtis and Emma Sowers of Delaware; Hayden Cantara and Travis Moyer of Bealeton, VA. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Warrenton Church of Christ, 6398 Lee Highway Access Road, Warrenton, VA 20187 with Pastor Robert Kolodner officiating. Inurnment will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Culpeper National Cemetery, 501 E. Chandler Street, Culpeper, VA 22701 with military honors being rendered by his grandsons’ JROTC team.
