Obituary of Matthew Goetze Knepper
Matthew Knepper, 46, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Erica Knepper; his daughters, Arianna Knepper and Marin Knepper; his son, Trey Knepper; his mother, Margaret Clark; his sisters, Kim Fowkes, Heather Rugh and Katie Lake; and his brothers, Christian Knepper and Jason Knepper. He will also be greatly missed by his 4 nieces, 12 nephews, 2 grand nieces and his grand nephew. Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Goetze Knepper Jr.; and his step father, Allyn Lee Clark. Matthew was an electrician on Ft. Belvoir for 18 years. He was a key component of the Aleut electrical shop that provides crucial support to the base's facilities and operation. He was recognized for his attention to detail and high quality work. During his tenure there, many forever friendships were forged with his colleagues. Matthew enjoyed hunting, fishing, kayaking, hiking and he was a jack of all trades. He could fix anything and was a perfectionist in every task. Matthew loved his family and spent most of his "free" time being Daddy and husband. Matthew also served in the United States Navy from February 16, 1994 to February 15. 1998 as an Electronic Warfare Technician on the U.S.S. Simpson. As a decorated U.S. serviceman, he was awarded the National Services medal, NATO medal, Armed Force's Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and 9 MM Marksman. A visitation for Matthew will be held from 1:00pm-2:00pm on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. His Celebration of Life will follow. Matthew will be interned at 10:00am on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Culpeper National Cemetery.
