He was born in Washington D.C. on August 23, 1961, the son of the late Lawrence O. Mann, Jr. and Kathryn F. Ham. He retired after 30 years of service with the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C. Marty was a devoted fan of the outdoors and loved nothing more than a day spent fishing with his brother and dad. Music was another of his great loves, especially the Grateful Dead, whose songs provided the soundtrack to many of his adventures. A true foodie, he had an exceptional talent for grilling and BBQ. He was a true fan of NASCAR (Dale Earnhardt #3) but his love for sports didn’t stop at racing; he was a dedicated supporter of the Minnesota Vikings, Virginia Tech, and the Washington Nationals.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Mann.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Mann; daughter, Katie Mann; mother, Kathryn Mann; brother, Mitch Mann; sister-in-law, Jan Mann; and many nieces, nephews, and good friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
