Inge Maria Deel

Inge Maria Ludwina (Ludwig) Deel, 90 years of age, most recently of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away peacefully December 27th 2023, at her residence in Poet’s Walk retirement community. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Clinton Deel in 2015, and one of their sons, Thomas Clinton Deel in 2012. Born in Dettelbach, Germany and raised in the Catholic faith, she was the daughter of the late Georg and Klara Ludwig. She married her loving late husband, Clinton Deel in 1955. She became a naturalized US citizen shortly after moving to Kansas to follow his military career and raise their family. She was a passionate and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother many times over. She steadfastly maintained our ever-growing family and group of friends while stationed at various locations across the country and Europe, and really hit her stride once the family settled in Northern VA in the early 1970s. Ever the busy lady, aside from raising a family, she also worked multiple occupations, including working as a banking clerk and librarian’s assistant. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, photography and painting, all manner of games, and loved to travel. But above all, she most enjoyed spending lots of time with family and friends. It was even better if there was a good wine to sip while doing so. Most recently, while living at Poet’s Walk, she also made a community of close friends, both with residents and with the staff. Her outgoing personality made it easy to get to know and love her. She is an incredible example of a life well lived. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
