Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1945 to George Dee and Otelia Horvath, Eileen grew up in her loving Brooklyn house with her father’s poems, mother’s art, and a variety of colorful pets. She was married to her best friend Sam, a clinical psychologist, for almost 50 years and they loved sharing the story of how they met (he taught a psychology class at her nursing school).
She spent the first half of her career as a registered nurse, graduating from Kings County School of Nursing and later ran a nursing agency on Long Island, NY (together with her husband), providing health care to thousands over the course of over 20 years. Her kind and gentle manner will be remembered by all who knew her.
They raised their children in Rockville Centre, NY which they called home for over 30 years and enjoyed weekends at their condo in Montauk with family and friends, and it was always brimming with lobsters, clams on the half shell. She loved her retirement years with Sam at Celebrate Community in Fredericksburg, VA and spending time with her grandchildren.
Eileen is survived by her daughter, Elise (Marc); son, Eric (Pamela); and grandchildren, Collin, Luke, Liam and Savannah. She is also survived by her best friend, Denise; and her nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, Sam; sisters, Geri and Sue; and her brother, Ed
