Cindy Lou (Carey) Rider, departed this world from Widewater, VA and entered eternal life on October 9, 2024. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Cindy, at 63 years young. Cindy was born on April 18, 1961 in Prince William County and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and purpose.
Cindy was a beloved wife, devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, daughter and friend. She was a constant and unwavering pillar of strength for her family, friends and those in need. Cindy was a force of nature – strong, compassionate, empathetic, and fiercely loving. If you ever met Cindy, you never forgot her. You always remembered her smile, laugh, loving touch, encouraging spirit and striking blue eyes. She was truly a joy and light to so many around her.
As a mother, Cindy was resilient, gentle, nurturing, forgiving and selfless. She always encouraged her children to pursue their goals and dreams, no matter how big or small. Cindy created a home where love thrived for her children, grandchildren, and many relatives.
As a grandmother, Cindy cherished and loved her grandchildren showering them with affection, encouragement, stories and life lessons. She took immense pride in being a grandmother, instilling in her grandchildren the same values that defined her own life.
So many of us had the honor of knowing Cindy, being raised with or by Cindy, and being loved by Cindy. She was sure to make an impact in your life and connect with you in some way. Cindy had a deep level of compassion for the disadvantaged and underprivileged. Cindy had a genuine and heartfelt love for animals; which being deep-rooted in the country, allowed her to have many fur babies. Her warmth and loving-touch were felt everywhere, by friends and strangers alike. She made sure everyone felt valued and loved.
Those who have taken her lessons to heart will continue to ensure that there will always be a hot dinner on the table, every baby will be kissed, every animal will be fed, the hungry will have a meal, and every guest will have a warm bed and soft nightlight.
Cindy leaves behind her beloved husband of 38 years: Jonathan Rider, four beautiful daughters: Jennifer Ferguson (Kenny), Saydie Rider, Susan Siedel (Buzz), & Wendy Cox, as well as 2 handsome sons: Michael Rider and Harlen Rider, as well as MANY grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her siblings: Donna "Dianne" Carey McWhirt, Barbara “Bobbi” A. Elias (Dennis), and Steven "Charlie Brown” Carey (Cheryl), along with her best friend Miguel Mercado, and a host of friends and extended family who will forever hold her memory dear. Cindy was preceded in death by her sister: Theresa “Peanut” Carey, Mother: Joyce Ann Carey, and Father: Robert Young.
As we remember Cindy, we find comfort in the love she shared and her radiant spirit. She will be deeply missed but will live on in the stories we share and the memories we cherish.
