Adam D. Pruss December 5, 1970-June 16, 2020. The world lost one of its capeless heroes on June 16, 2020 when Adam D Pruss suddenly passed while doing yard work, he was only 49 years young. He was born December 5, 1970 in Grand Turk, Turks, and Caicos to Georgia K and Phil Pruss. He later moved with his mother to Antigua where he spent most of his childhood before moving to Big Bear, California where he graduated High School.
Adam enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, eventually retiring as a Warrant Officer after 26 years of service. During his service he partook in supporting roles of major events that affected our nation such as hurricane Hugo clean up in 1989, the Haitian migration in the 90s, numerous drug boarding patrols, setting up emergency communications for the Staten Island police force during the 9/11 aftermath and clean up/rescue efforts post-Katrina.
Adam was truly a hero to many, he had an impact on many lives. Fondly remembered for his cooking and his baby and pet whispering skills. He never turned away someone in need, whether it was a meal, a roof over their head or a friendly ear to confide in.
Adam will also forever be remembered as the Ron Swanson doppelganger, a science fiction fanatic who was never short on conversation. As painful as it is to have lost this amazing man so soon, he would want those he loved to celebrate his life and memories. We are all a little better for knowing him.
Adam was preceded in by his parents Georgia Kay and Phil but survived by his brother Paul of Tasmania, his wife of 29 years Rebecca, his 5 (biological and adopted daughters), Jessica (28), Daniella (26), Kimberly (23), Katherine (27) and Jessica (28) (yes two Jessicas). He was also Pop Pop to his grandchildren Hayden (6), Lucas (8), and Piper (3 months).
In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a donation to Ocean Conservancy in Adam's name, it would be greatly appreciated.
