Willis A. Baker, age 77, of Franklin, Ohio, died Sunday March 9, 2014 at Hospice of Butler-Warren Counties. He was born in Dayton, Kentucky on January 1, 1937 to Oley and Leta (Moore) Baker. Willis was a 1956 Salutatorian graduate of Carlisle High School, served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War as a Sergeant in the 11th Armored Calvary assigned to border patrol, was a member of Baptist Tabernacle and Jefferson Lodge #90 F&AM, A.A.S.R. Valley of Dayton, and an honorary Kentucky Colonel, Dobro player for the Bluegrass Gospel Group Berachah Valley. He was employed in plant security department at Delco Products Division GMC for 27 years and retired in 1992. While employed there he served as the secretary of the Local #166, United Plant Guard Workers of America for many years. He was preceded in death by his father, Oley Bonner Baker, mother, Leta Mae Baker, sister, Elva Hartman. Willis is survived by his wife of 30 years Cathy Oldfield Baker, son Todd Baker; 2 daughters Emma (Bobby) Phelps, Kim (Joe) Carpenter; 3 brothers Lewis Baker, J.R. Baker, Bobby Baker; sister Kay Koehler; 5 grandchildren. Funeral services are 11:30 am Thursday March 13, 2014 at Baptist Tabernacle 7816 DuBois Road Carlisle, Ohio with Reverend Michael Gray, Pastor James Anderson officiating. Entombment will be in Miami Valley Memory Gardens with military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the church.
