Robert Lee Riley (Bob), age 91, of Franklin, OH passed away on July 12, 2020 at Bickford Assisted Living Facility in Middletown, Ohio. Robert was a proud Veteran of the United States Army and a combat Veteran of the Korean War. He retired from General Motors and was a member of Franklin First Church of God for decades.
To write an adequate tribute to Bob Riley would be an impossible task. Those who knew him remember his big smile and kind heart. He didn’t know a stranger and lived a life in service to others.
He was born on September, 22nd 1928 in Gays Creek, KY to the late Arkansas Riley and the late Evaline Smith Riley. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Lillian Riley and four brothers: Roy, Arkansas Jr, Don and Monroe Riley.
He leaves surviving one son: Ron Riley (Ellen) of Franklin, Ohio; three grandchildren: Brandon Riley of Lebanon, OH, Heather Turner (Wayne) of Monroe, OH and Holly Walsh of Springboro, OH; and two great-grandchildren Knox Turner and Finn Walsh.
In addition to serving his country, Bob was also a skilled carpenter – building over a dozen homes including the one he shared with his wife, Lillian. He could fix anything.
To say he was truly one of a kind would be an understatement. He wanted to show the world the love of Christ and he did so though his words and actions. He wanted to leave a mark on this world and take none of the credit. He ran the race and left it all on the field. We can only hope to leave an impression the way Bob did. He loved his family and was a loyal friend. He cared more about others than himself.
He is free from pain and united with his loving wife and savior. “His lord said to him, well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21
Visitation will be Thursday, July 16, 2020 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Anderson Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral Services will be Thursday at 1:30 PM at the funeral home.
