Melanie Anne (McDonald) Levesque, age 66, of Framingham, MA, passed into God’s glory on January 6, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. For over fifteen years Melanie bravely embraced the newest treatments for breast cancer. She died with hope that her most recent clinical trial will help others with breast cancer in the future.
Melanie will be remembered for her amazing sense of humor and her impeccable comedic timing. She could make friends with anyone, from the clerk at the grocery store, to bartenders at a restaurant, to her nurses on the oncology floor. Before her retirement from J.Jill, she would always talk about her coworkers as if they were her best friends- and many were. Melanie constantly remained joyful, even in her darkest moments. The only thing that could bring Melanie down was if her beloved Patriots or Red Sox lost a big game. She loved spending time with her family, camping around the Northeast, futzing in her garden, and decorating her house for every season. Her cheerful spirit will be reflected in the memories her loved ones have of her.
Melanie is survived by Wayne, her devoted husband of 37 years. Wayne and Melanie had particularly enjoyed the last ten years of marriage, traveling, enjoying their empty-nest time together, and doting on their dog, Daisy. Wayne and Melanie enjoyed trips to New York City and London, cruising the Caribbean on a Disney cruise, and visiting their daughters in Rhode Island and Texas. Wayne valiantly served as caregiver to Melanie during her decline over the past two years, faithfully showing his devotion to her in sickness and in health. Love such as this is one of the most profound ways we witness divine love in this life.
Melanie is survived by her two daughters, Christa (John) Moore-Levesque of Jamestown, RI and Jenna (Joey) Boivin of Dallas, TX. Melanie could not have been prouder of her two girls. Both Christa and Jenna entered healing professions as clergy and nurse practitioner, and Melanie would brag about them any chance she had.
Perhaps Melanie’s favorite role in life was that of Grammy. The pictures adorning her living spaces were constant reminders of her love for Samuel and Lucia. Melanie’s eyes lit up and her heart warmed whenever she was near her darling grandchildren.
Melanie is predeceased by her mother, Ethel McDonald, and her brothers George McDonald and Dale McDonald. She is survived by her brothers Wells McDonald and Gale McDonald, and her sister Kathleen Rabbitt. She has many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends who will mourn her loss.
Melanie always wanted her funeral to be a celebration of her life, and she requested that people wear bright colors to her service. She certainly loved flowers, but in lieu of flowers you may make a donation in her name to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
Funeral Mass in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 3 Maple Street, Framingham on Saturday, January 21st at 10AM. A reception will follow at La Cantina, 911 Waverly Street, Framingham.
