Joseph Martinez Vazquez was born January 6, 1941, in Bayamon Puerto Rico. His parents Jose Vazquez and Luz Maria Martinez moved from Puerto Rico to New York where he grew up. Joseph was one of 3 boys, who happened to be Philip and Little Joe, they also had a sister named Rosie Flores. Raised in New York, Joseph loved baseball, fishing, camping, coin collecting and stamp collecting as well. Joe often spoke of the New York Mets, his favorite team. Joseph with his first wife raised four boys Joey, Manuel, Orlando and Angelo. While living in New York, Joseph worked as a Concierge Greeter for the elite at New York Bank for Savings on 86th street and Broadway, on the upper west side of Manhattan.
Later in life, Joseph moved back to Puerto Rico where he met his current wife, Ermelinda Ruiz. Together, they have been married for 33 years. Joseph worked at San Juan International airport in the field of maintenance. In his retirement years, Joseph and Ermelinda would spend their time going on cruises, traveling and fishing. After his health started to decline, Ermelinda and Joseph he still enjoyed going on cruises. Joseph and Ermelinda, later in life moved to Colorado to be closer to immediate family members, who would then help them both out during their senior years. Finally, Joe enjoyed going to Cripple Creek Colorado where he can have fun with the family.
A funeral service for Joseph will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S. US HWY 85/87, Fountain, CO 80817.
