Deepest sympathy to the family.  Jim was a former classmate of the Garaway class of 1970.  

I worked with Jim at Fort Carson both while I was in the Army and then later as a civilian, for a total of fourteen years, ending in 2012.  I have nothing but great memories of him.  He did his work conscientiously and with integrity.  Much more important, he was a terrific human being - courteous, kind, calm, caring, and fun to be with.   I am so sorry to hear that he's gone.  My heart goes out to his big family.  Please know that all of us who had the good fortune to cross his path share your sense of loss.

My Dearest Mr. Ruby,

Thank you so much for the wisdom you bestowed upon me in my short time of knowing you at 918th. You always made me laugh and helped me not to stress about my contracts.  You were so knowledgeable and willing to share that with everyone that would listen. I know you wanted to do more and share more but was limited with your time.  Rest well Mr. Ruby, now you don't have to worry about a "Mod" or anything like that.

To the Ruby family, my condolences for your loss and thanks for sharing Mr. Ruby with all of us at 918th CBN MICC Fort Carson.

I worked with Jim intermittently at Fort Carson with various environmental and natural resource contracting needs.  He was also my mentor and contracting expert when I chaired a Source Selection Evaluation Board. 

My sincere condolences to all of his family and friends.  He will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him.  Jim was an awesome human being!

I am so sadden of the news, such a loss, he was a great man, always ready to help anyone, so sorry Trudy and family.

To the Ruby Family,
Thank you for sharing Jim with me during the past years, as I have treasured the time with him and he will be truly missed so much.  Jim was a supervisor, mentor, educator and teacher who taught me everything I know about Contracting and I am blessed for everything he gave.  Jim was a true family man and had a twinkle in his eye, a contagious smile, so proud and glow about him when talking of his wife, children or especially the grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  No matter how busy he was he would always take time out to listen.  I especially enjoyed his many stories which usually ended in giving us guidance without even knowing what happened.  Jim provided friendship to many and was always the first to extend a hand or whatever we needed.  I especially enjoyed many of our work gatherings where we would see his humor and inner child come out making all of us laugh with him.  You don’t always meet a very special person like Jim, and I am the one blessed and grateful to have known him and learned from him.  Jim will always be in my heart and mind and was taken too soon.  To the family my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time and my sincere condolences.  Rest in Peace Jim, God Bless

Jim was one of my Supervisors when I worked at the Fort Carson Contracting Office.  He was a wonderful and caring person who will be dearly missed.  My deepest sympathy to the Ruby Family!  May God bless and comfort you during your time of sorrow!

Uncle Jim was a very special person, he always made time to talk with everyone at family reunions! He was always smiling and sharing stories. He will be greatly missed! My deepest condolences to you all. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Jim you were more than just a member of the 918th/MICC Fort Carson Battalion, you are family. Your infectious smile, the stories of the past, your work ethic and most importantly your friendship will never be forgotten. Thank you for taking a young leader under your wing and teaching him what it means to be a better leader and friend.  To the Ruby Family know that he spoke each of you weekly and we were always excited to hear about the new family additions. Your Husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather was one the hardest working people I have ever met.  We all are better to have been a part of your circle. Thank you sharing him with us over the past 30 plus years, he made a difference every day.  Our deepest condolences go out to the family.

We watched jim grow from the day of his birth into a fine young man and dedicated husband and father to his wife and children, grand children and great grand children while accomplishing much along the way of his Mormon belief, military service and civilian achievements. My dad was one of the best men I knew.  He was a loving, caring husband and father.  His 15 children, 48 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren  loved him very much.  He will be Greatly Missed!  You are gone too soon daddy, may I see you again one day!  Love you,  Jaymi
