Herbert Helms 90, of Security, CO went home to be with our Lord on September 8, 2014.Herb was born on October 8, 1923 in Weatherby Missouri. Herb served in the military for 26 years and fought in WWII and Korea. He worked as a maintenance man for Widefield School District 3 for 20 years. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary. She was the love of his life and they were married for 59 years. Herb is survived by 2 sisters Juanita Files of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Virginia Norman of Kansas City, Missouri. 6 Children Sandy Shaver of Colorado Springs, Pam (John) Symington of Rockford, Illinois, Debbie (Glenn) Combs of Danville, Illinois, Michele (Vince) Almeida of Colorado Springs, Terry Helms of Hot Springs, South Dakota, and Vickie Akin of Colorado Springs. 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. A Rosary will be said at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church at 10:30am on September 19, 2014, followed by a Memorial Mass.
