Darryl H. Davis, Brother, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, passed away on Monday, November 22, 2021 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Darryl was born in Middletown, New York on June 1, 1941 to Florence and Oscar Davis.
Darryl’s professional life was spent in the military with his career beginning in 1958 when he enlisted with the Marines. After five years of service with the Marines, Darryl enlisted in the Army in 1963. Darryl had a long career in the Army serving as a Medical Supervisor, Utility Helicopter Repairer and Aircraft Quality Control Supervisor. Darryl’s service soon took him to Vietnam where he served with the 1st Calvary Division. The 1st Air Calvary Division has been recognized as one of the most decorated combat divisions in the Army. Darryl’s service record reflects that of a true hero with the accolades and decorations of valor commensurate with that of his division’s record. Most notably among Darryl’s 10 decorations are the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, both honoring Darryl’s valor in combat and unwavering commitment to his comrades. Darryl’s military career spanned 30 years with his retirement in November of 1988.
Throughout his life, Darryl enjoyed the outdoors fishing, camping or boating. When not outdoors he enjoyed dancing and music with friends.
Darryl is survived by his wife, Annaliese Haskins, brother and sisters; Phil Sturchio, Lisa Sturchio, Cynthia Sturchio Denton and Linda Sturchio all residing in North Carolina. Children, Tom Davis of Centennial, Colorado; Misty Sabo of Fountain, Colorado; Heidi (Travis) Thomas of Texas; Sabrina Davis of Widefield, Colorado; Jennifer Davis of Fountain, Colorado and Christina Davis of Tennessee. Grand children, Darryl S, Destiny S, Christopher S, Trinity S, Samantha S, Brent (Brooke) V, Elaina (Deonte) V, Marcis L, Memphis C, Nicolas C, Alexis D, D’Angelo S, Alexander H, Kimora D, Mikayla H, Robert S, Katelynn S, Jacob S; 6 great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Darryl was preceded in death by his son Jeff Davis and his sister Joanne Pearson.
