

Charles Lisle Giffin, “Lisle” was born on November 29, 1918 to Charles Lisle Giffin Sr. and Ethel Eby in Centerville, KS. They moved to Oklahoma, where he graduated from Watonga High School in 1937. Lisle earned a business degree from Lawrence business college in Lawrence, KS. He married Opal Sweeney on October 31, 1943 in Amarillo, TX, she preceded him in death in 2004. They had one son, Donald Giffin, who also preceded him in death in July of 2009. Lisle is survived by his two grandchildren, Diann Giffin and Michael Giffin, four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Lisle owned the Giffin Oldsmobile dealership in the late 1940’s in Watonga Oklahoma and then came to Colorado Springs in the early 1950’s. He and Opal opened the Peak Treat at the foot of Pikes Peak and then built, owned, and operated the Tasty Freeze which is still in operation today on Union Blvd. Lisle’s next business venture was Rose Realty, a successful partnership of realtors. He held certificates in all aspects of the real estate business.
Lisle retired to his ranch in Fountain, CO where he farmed hay for several years. He remained in his home until his death on April 21, 2014 at the age of 95.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 10:00 am at First United Methodist church of Fountain with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs.
