“Caitlin Louise Marsh, also known as Cait, died peacefully at 2:19 AM on December 14th, 2023, due to complications of COVID pneumonia. Her mother Jennie Marsh and sister Alex Remy were at her side the entire time, holding her hands and stroking her hair as she left this world. She was 37 years old.
Born on May 28th, 1986 in Washington DC and raised in both Virginia and Colorado, Cait was a bright, funny, creative soul who always aspired to greatness. She proudly graduated high school from CIVA charter school in Colorado Springs, then went on to earn two Masters degrees from UC Greeley and Regis University. Throughout her life, she tried her hand at theater, band, stand up comedy, and poetry, always seeking outlets for expression. Her laughter could be joyous, her wit surprising and filled with charm. She had a bright spark in her that will never be replicated.
Sadly, Cait’s story cannot be told without also acknowledging the suffering and hardship she endured. No human heart is meant to bear so much, and trauma took a toll on both her mental and physical health. She struggled for many years to find the peace she deserved. Thankfully, with help from her family, Cait spent her final time on this earth in the warmth of Brookside Assisted Living in Colorado Springs, where she finally found a sense of belonging and safety. It was her home.
Cait is preceded in death by her father, Henry “Skip” Schuyler Marsh, who died in 2018. She is survived by her mother, Jennie Marsh; her sister, Alex Remy (Jeremy Remy), nephews Skyler and Bailey Remy; aunt and constant ally Nina McCane (Patrick McCane); aunt Katie Alexander (Bob Alexander); cousin Michele Magruder (Matt Magruder); uncle David Marsh (Cathy Marsh), as well as many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will remember Cait with love, and hope for her continued peace. She is free, and will never be forgotten.
We want to extend our thanks to the kind and compassionate staff at UCHealth Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, who provided Cait and her family with excellent care at the end of her life. We also ask that, in lieu of flowers, legacy donations be made to Brookside Assisted Living in Cait’s honor, through her memorial fund on GoFundMe. A private memorial was held at Brookside on December 28th, and a memorial will also be held for family and friends at a later time.”
