A.R. was born in Linneus, Missouri on March 8, 1925. He came with his family to Colorado Springs at age 7, as his father needed the healing climate for tuberculosis. Near the end of World War II, he joined the Navy and sailed around the world in a wooden ship - a minesweeper. He was very proud of doing his part for his country. His adult career was as an automobile body man for Daniel’s Motors.
In 1951, he married the love of his life, Ella Mae Iberg. A.R. and Ella Mae truly had a wonderful life and had 61 years of happiness. This “West Side” couple raised four children, attended countless sporting events, card games with friends, hosted legendary bbq’s and were pillars of their community.
A.R. was preceded in death by his wife, his son Jack, his parents and 8 siblings. He is survived by his daughter Susan and sons Randy and Jerry. He had 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pops, you were an extraordinary man that will be greatly missed here on Earth, but as you were known for saying, “As they say in Boulder, we will CU”!
A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Westside Global Methodist Church, 701 N. 20th Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80904. A.R.’s final resting place will be at Pikes Peak National Cemetery.
