Walter "Dub" Holcomb, Jr., 82, departed this life Monday, August 14, 2017. Dub was born November 26, 1934 to Walter and Leota Holcomb. A lifelong East Fort Worth resident, Dub was a Polytechnic High School grad of '53, a TCU alumni, and employee of General Dynamics / Lockheed Martin for 39 years. He was also in the Marine Corps and Air Force Reserves. Dub was president of the neighborhood Code Blue, an active member of the Citizens on Patrol "COPS" for the East Fort Worth division, and was actively involved in the East Fort Worth Breakfast Optimist. He loved sports of all kinds, traveling, camping, hiking, and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters at the Shrine Circus, dance recitals, choir programs, and track meets.
Dub is survived by his wife of 56 years, Freddie Holcomb; daughter, Leianne Burge and her husband John; sons, Bill Holcomb and his wife Kathy, David Holcomb and his wife Alice; 7 granddaughters, Willa, Mandi, Sara, Michelle, Morgan, Jillian, and Lily; and 12 great grandchildren. Brothers Perry Holcomb and wife Charlene, and Ronnie and his wife Tina. He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Dub will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
