Virgie completed her earthly journey Monday, September 12, 2022. Born to Freda and Jeff Lyon, she grew up in Pine Bluff, Arkansas with her two brothers, Irvin and Dewayne. After high school graduation, she moved to Washington D.C. to work for the FBI. Severe allergies forced her to leave the job she loved in D.C. She landed a job in Arlington, TX, where she met and married Earl L. Davis in 1950. Though they spent most of their 60 years together in and around Fort Worth, they also lived short periods of time in California, Indiana, England and Pakistan with Earl's job.
Virgie is survived by her three sons: Stephen (Janis) of Lake Jackson, TX; Russell (Sherry) of Lakeway, TX; and Bruce of Burleson, TX; plus six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She overcame hardships like the loss of her mother at age 12 from an explosion at the Pine Buff Arsenal, but she always sought to provide the stable home for her sons that she didn't have growing up. Later in life, she became a regular volunteer with the American Red Cross and People Helping People in Granbury, TX. She was an active member of Acton United Methodist Church near Granbury. In lieu of flowers, we suggest a donation to People Helping People or to the charity of your choice.
Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
A memorial service for Virgie will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 2:30 P.M. at Laurel Land Memorial Park – FW, 7100 Crowley Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76134
