He was born in Merkel, Texas on September 23, 1947.
Tom graduated from Wayland Baptist College and earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Religion. He went on to complete two years at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He was married to Mary Riney on December 28, 1968 in Plainview, Texas for 51 years.
Tom served two pastorates in Abernathy and Happy Union. He also served as Youth Director at Date Street Baptist Church as well as Interim Youth Pastor at Riverside Baptist Church.
He was employed as a building inspector in Plainview and North Richland Hills, Texas.
He loved Sci-Fy movies with favorites including Star Wars, Star Trek, and Babylon 5. He saw every episode of M*A*S*H multiple times. He loved playing board games and cards. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and joking with others.
Preceded in death by his parents, Don and Syble Riney. He is survived by his wife, Mary Riney; daughters, Angela Bouldin, Melanie Dunn and son-in-law Matthew Dunn; grandchildren; Chris and Tammy Bouldin, Heather and Tyler Martin; great grandchildren; Oakley and Adeline Martin; brothers and sisters; Donna Graves, Ann & Dan Kiser, and Larry & Sherri Riney; sister-in-law; Beverly and Wendell Dunlap; and ten nieces and nephews.
