Remedios was born in Iloilo City, Philippines on July 4, 1926 to the late Emilia Hermano De La Cruz and Glecirio De La Cruz. She married Cesar Andrada Laserna in 1955. She became a widow in 1964, and was the sole provider for her 5 children. She came to the United States in 1970 to pursue the American dream and provide a better life for her five children. In 1971, and 1972, her two older children, and 3 younger children, respectively, joined her in Buffalo, New York where she worked as an accountant for Warner Lambert. In 1978, she accepted a job as an Accounting Manager for Miller Brewing Company in Fort Worth, Texas, and established a home in Crowley, Texas. She retired from Miller in 1987 at 61 years old.
Remedios was a hardworking lady and made it her priority to meet her family’s needs, both in the Philippines, and the United States. If not working, she enjoyed meeting with her church friends playing Canasta and Bingo, with her Fil-Am friends playing Mahjong, or spending ‘me’ time playing Dr. Mario and Tetris Nintendo games, and Sudoku. She enjoyed traveling with family, and friends, going to casinos and watching game shows like Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and Family Feud. Additionally, she volunteered at church, the Food Pantry, and her children’s schools to supplement their tuition.
Remedios is preceded in death by her parents, Emilia and Glecirio De La Cruz; her husband, Cesar Laserna; her sons, Victor Laserna, and Gil Laserna.
Remedios is survived by her daughter Sandra (Bill), son Alan (Tina), daughter Judy (Bob); grandson Terry (Laura), granddaughter Jennifer (Matt), grandson Gil, Jr., granddaughter Raeanne, granddaughter Bianca (David), granddaughter Paige, grandson Zander, grandson William (Stephanie), granddaughter Christina, grandson Robby, granddaughter Alyssa (Marcus); great grandson Khai, great granddaughter Lexy (Sam), great granddaughter Kira, great granddaughter Elliot, great granddaughter Alex, great grandson Camden, great grandson Ian, great granddaughter Mady, great grandson MJ, great granddaughter Mia, great grandson Malachi, and great granddaughter River.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel in Fort Worth, Texas, with a Funeral Service on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM, Burial to follow at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery.
