He was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and was a graduate of Eastern Hills High School and Arlington State College. He received his Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and did additional graduate work at the seminary and at University of Texas at Arlington.
While a student at the seminary he pastored Marquez Baptist Church in Marquez, Texas. He also served for three years as assistant business manager of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention. He served as director of printing and photography at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and was later director of housing, retiring in 2008.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; son, John and wife Letitia; grandchildren, Kaleb, Kyleigh, and Jaimee; brother, Christopher and wife Valeria.
