May was born on December 6, 1924, to Earl and Mary Vaught in Spring Creek, Texas. She grew up in Archer City and Fort Worth where she graduated from Paschal High School. She met H.D. “Terry” Terrell on a blind date; they married in 1944, lived in various US cities, and had two children. May and Terry resided in Fort Worth for more than 50 years. May was the owner of Treasure Galleries in Fort Worth and later retired from HUD. May had a passion for music and singing; she spent some time with the Fort Worth Opera Chorus where she sang with some of the best. She loved attending church services and singing in the choirs; she was a member of Polytechnic Presbyterian Church and St. Luke Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was later a Stephens Minister where she visited with people who needed companionship and later benefited greatly from the same service. She was a loving and loved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, cousin, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
May was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, H.D. Terrell; her parents; siblings, Helen Lawson and George Vaught; son-in-law, Ronnie Hampton. Survivors: son, Mike Terrell (Cathy); daughter, Carol Hampton; granddaughters, Correna, Monica, Caren, and Kelly; grandson, Mike II; great-grandchildren, Tristan, Zoe, Shaylee, Luciano, Jaden, Abram, Ronan, and Makena; and countless relatives and friends who meant the world to her.
Visitation: Friday, August 3, 2018 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Laurel Land Funeral Home.
Service: Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 10am at St. Luke Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Entombment to follow service.
