Marquetta was born Oct. 24, 1941, in Big Spring, Texas, to Floyd and Pauline Owens. Growing up in West Texas, she eventually moved to San Angelo meeting and marrying her husband of 54 years, Larry Whitfield. An active servant, Marquetta was a Meals-on-Wheels volunteer for 20-plus years and served on the Tarrant County Board of Directors. Additionally, she was a third and fourth grade Sunday School teacher for many years and was active in Church Women United. Finally, she was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron for three years and as secretary for more years beyond.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by her mother, Pauline Owens; husband, Larry Whitfield; son, Chris Whitfield; daughter-in-law, Aimee Whitfield; grandchildren, Cooper and Alexis Whitfield; and sister, Karon Jones.
