Mark Murray

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 24, at Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Chapel with Deacon Klaus Gutbier, officiating. Entombment will follow at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Colleyville, TX. Friends and family are invited to attend a luncheon reception following the service at the church.

Mark was born in Fort Worth to B.J. And Nancy Murray on September 28, 1956. He graduated from L.D. Bell High School in Hurst. Mark married High-School sweetheart Shawn McDaniel on December 1, 1979, in Richland Hills, TX.

Mark was a career Real Estate Appraiser professionally designated by the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers; was certified by the State of Texas and a licensed Real Estate Broker. All of these accomplishments required extensive testing, experience and ongoing recertification.

Mark loved music and played the electric bass and was playing in his first band by the time he was in Junior High. He continued playing in bands all throughout High School and beyond. Beginning in 1990, he and his cousin Chris, formed Big Smoo and the Trailer Park Kings, a blues band, with lifelong friends Jimmy, Doug and Lou. The band performed all around North Texas including the popular Bedford Blues Festival, Fort Worth Main Street Festival and Grapevine’s Grape Fest. With their fun and energetic performances, they developed a very loyal following.

In addition to music, Mark loved his family, hunting, fishing, boating and water sports, dirt bikes, riding his Harley’s, off-roading and traveling with his family and friends. He was also quite accomplished on the grill and wood smoker, providing many delicious meals for his family and friends.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents BJ and Nancy.

He is survived by his wife Shawn, his son Alex and his wife Melissa, brother Mike and his wife Jacky, brother Pete and his wife Susan, granddaughters Madilyn and Trinity, and grandson Jackson, as well as many in-laws, outlaws, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends who he considered family.
