FORT WORTH -- Marilyn Jane (Johnson) Evarts passed away Monday, June 6, 2016. Monnin, as she was known to her family, was a lifelong resident of the Fort Worth area. Graveside Service : Friday, 10:00 am at Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park. Born on August 27, 1923 to Mary Opal (Stacy) Johnson, Marilyn graduated from Trimble Tech High School in 1941. Marilyn met her future husband, William T. “Bill” Evarts at the local skating rink at 16 years old. Marilyn and Bill married in October, 1943 and in January, 1945, she gave birth to their only son, Ronald “Ray” Evarts. Marilyn spent many years as children's Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher at Polytechnic Baptist Church in East Fort Worth. Marilyn retired from Region 11 Education Service Center and spent her early retirement enjoying many rounds of golf with Bill at Mountain Valley Country Club in Burleson. Marilyn loved spending time with her granddaughters and great-grandchildren as often as possible. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years as well as her mother Opal and stepfather, Joe Brittain. She is survived by her son Ray and his wife Sandy of Fort Worth; granddaughter Kayla Hughes and husband Rick of Kennedale; granddaughter Amanda Wood and husband Stacey of Kennedale; great-grandsons Jackson Sellers and Hunter Hughes of Kennedale; and great-granddaughters Courtney and Cassidy Hughes of Kennedale.
