Lisa Kathleen Johnson

Lisa grew up in Fort Worth Texas, attended Paschal High School, and then graduated with a Marketing degree from Abilene Christian University. While at ACU, she met and married her husband Russell and they were happily married for 38 years. Lisa worked in the College of Business at Texas A&M University while Russell attended Veterinary School. The couple returned to Fort Worth and lived in North Richland Hills for over 30 years and attended the Hills Church. The joy of Lisa’s life was their son Reese and there was never a more devoted mother than Lisa.

Lisa was known for her vibrant personality, her love of family, her generosity and genuine concern for all those around her, constantly calling and checking on friends and family and anyone that might need help or a kind word. She was quick to smile and known for her infectious laugh! Lisa loved to cook and entertain and was always the ultimate hostess, especially for family events and holidays and everyone anticipated her wonderful and bountiful appetizers. She had thousands of recipes but made great efforts to keep alive many old family recipes.

Lisa suffered a serious burn many years ago that involved a protracted recovery period and multiple surgeries, but instead of growing bitter, she used that difficult experience to become a stronger and more empathetic person. She was determined to help others who were suffering through the same challenging trials and as a result, she spent many hours doing volunteer work with the Parkland Burn Unit, Burn Survivor Support groups and the Phoenix Burn Society.

Lisa was the hospital manager at the couple’s veterinary hospital, Neighborhood Pet Health Center in North Richland Hills. She truly loved being at the clinic and was so dedicated to going the extra mile to help all the pets and clients. Lisa treated the staff at the hospital like family and was regarded as a mother or big sister figure by many of the staff. Her concern was not only for their work performance but helping them navigate real life problems and challenges. She took great pride in always making a special dessert of their choosing, for each staff member on their birthday.

Lisa dearly loved the beach and was so looking forward to retirement in Florida. She requested some of her ashes be spread at her favorite beach and then followed by a big party.

Lisa is survived by her husband Russell Johnson, her son Reese Johnson of Aubrey and her brother Tim Myrick of Dallas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jerry A. Myrick and Martha N. (Warden) Myrick of Fort Worth.

We will honor Lisa with a Celebration of Life for family and friends in the near future and graveside services in Aspermont Texas soon after.
