An anonymous author penned these words " it was love at first sight, at last sight, and at ever and ever sight". While every couple finds their way to their one true love differently and on their own timeline, that mysterious yet special phrase "I just knew! rang true for Mr. Leon Powell, Jr. and Mrs. Cynthia Hornbuckle Powell! It was truly love at first sight. To this divine union was born on a cold icy day January 3, 1978 a healthy bouncing baby boy whom they proudly named Leon Deshun Powell, III. He was affectionately called "Shun". Shun was born and raised in Fort Worth Texas. Shun was the love of their lives. He was the amazing gift that continued to give.
Shun was taught about the love of God as a child at The Dawn of a New Day Church under the Pastoral direction of Pastor Girtha Lee Porter. He later joined the First Saint John Cathedral a Full Gospel Baptist Fellowship until the present. Under the Pastoral leadership of Bishop Kenneth B. Spears. Shun attended Morningside Middle School where he played football. He was also an avid swimmer at the Panthers Boy's Club. Where he earned countless metals. Shun was a exceptionally skilled multisport athlete. Shun was a proud Graduate of the 1996 Class of the Trimble Technical High School where he excelled in the Electrical Trade Program. Shun later earned license in plumbing as well as real estate.
Amazingly Shun and his now wife Megan Powell met at Mitchell Blvd. Elementar School. She remembers that he had a "Big" Crush o her. After losing contact for many years they reunited as friends in 2000. She later became his wife on July 20, 2014. Their relationship was a wonderful example of the poetic words "Love at last sight, at ever and ever sight".
