Lendell Griggs Sr was born on October 15, 1948, in Fort Worth, Texas to Arlee Pringle Cotton and William Charles Griggs. At an early age, Lendell embraced his faith in Christ, a cornerstone of his life.
Lendell was a proud graduate of Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School, Class of 1967.
Lendell explored various career paths before discovering his true passion in trucking.
With a career spanning over 40 years, he became widely known on the road as "Soul¬Man," a testament to his vibrant personality and dedication. His travels took him across the country and beyond, where he relished every moment of his journey. Lendell's affable nature meant he never met a stranger, effortlessly connecting with everyone he encountered.
Outside of his professional life, Lendell cherished time spent with family and friends. He looked forward to family gatherings, particularly during holidays and birthdays, where his warmth and humor shone brightly. A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, he eagerly anticipated Sunday night football, passionately cheering (and occasionally yelling) at the television.
Lendell is survived by his children: Lamont Griggs & wife Bianca Griggs, and Tameka Griggs McGrew & husband Lorenzo McGrew Jr, his grandchildren: Lance McGrew, Lauren McGrew, Jordan Griggs, lmunique Griggs, Niya Griggs, Arianna Griggs, and Logan Griggs; his sisters: O'Geal Griggs, Charlene Homer, and Chinesia Griggs; and his brothers: Humphrey Griggs, Sr. & wife Christine and O'Neal Griggs, Sr.. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will deeply miss him.
He was preceded in death by his son, Lendell Griggs Jr.; his parents, William Charles Griggs and Arlee Pringle Cotton; his sister, Barbra Griggs; his brothers, William Charles Jr, Douglas Griggs; and his nephew, Marvin Griggs.
Lendell's legacy of kindness, joy, and dedication will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
