Edith Kay Holt passed away peacefully on March 5, 2023. Edith, who went by the name Kay, was born to Carl Lester Avery and Edith Hester Prince on May 24, 1943, in Dallas, TX. Early in her childhood, however, she was raised at Sunny Glen Children’s Home in San Benito, TX, until she was a teenager with her four siblings. As a teen, she moved to Fort Worth, TX to live with her sister Carla and attend Paschal High School. There she met Jimmy Orville Holt, and later the two married in 1961. She had three children, Ronald, Sherry, and Jon. She was a doting and beloved mother to her children. Kay was married to her loving husband, Jimmy Holt, for over fifty years until his passing. Kay and Jimmy attended Church of Christ services at several churches throughout their lives including West Berry, Forest Hills, and Altamesa Church of Christ.
Kay was known for having a great sense of humor and her great generosity. She commonly would shower gifts on her children and grandchildren each Christmas, which was her favorite time of year. Kay would start preparing for next year’s Christmas as early as January each year! She was very thoughtful of others and would commonly call people to “check-in” with them. Kay was an animal lover and had many dogs and some cats throughout the years, even though she was a bit allergic to cats. She will be dearly missed, and often thought of.
Kay is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Holt, son Ronald Holt, daughter, Sherry Amos, both her parents, sister Carla, and Brother Danny. Survivors: son, Jon; daughter-in-law, Cherie; grandchildren, Christopher and wife Michelle, Ryan and wife Stephanie, Megan and husband Josh Schoonover, Hannah, Houston, and Benjamin; great-grandson, Mason, great-granddaughters Harper and Farrah, Brother, Bruce, Sister-in-law, Linda, Brother Bert; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and their families.
A visitation for Edith will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home - Ft Worth, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134.
A funeral service will occur Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134.
A committal service will occur Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134.
