On Wednesday morning surrounded by family, Joyce gracefully walked into Heaven and into the presence of Jesus. She was a true Jesus follower who devoted her life to loving and caring for others.
Joyce was the beloved wife of David Lee Rollins who passed December 2007.
Beautiful daughter of Clarence and Agnes (Haag) Swope.
Best friend and sister to Marie Monett (OH).
Loving mother of daughter, Kathie Ashur (OH) and Tim Rollins and wife, Shawna (TX).
Adoring Grandmother of 7 and a Great Grandmother of 3.
Upon discovering their great need for Jesus they became immersed in the church. She and her husband, David, began a Bus Ministry to disenfranchised families. They spent hours each week visiting, caring, praying and preparing for their time with these precious people whom they loved so much. This life calling spanned decades and included service at Cardington Baptist Temple (OH), Worth Baptist Church and Sandy Lane Baptist Church (FW, TX).
Micah 6:8 (NLT) No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and that is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Joyce and David did this naturally and so beautifully because of their great love for Jesus.
During her adult life Joyce was employed as a school bus driver which allowed her to be with her children and help provide income for her family. She spent many years as a secretary for almost every church they attended. Her life was spent in service to others.
In November of 1979 they left Galion, Ohio and moved to Fort Worth, Texas with their son, Tim, to attend Arlington Baptist Seminary. Joyce graduated Bible Seminary with a Master's Degree in Christian Education in May 1999 (TX).
Joyce was funny and quiet. Unassuming and never pretentious. She loved watching her grandson play baseball. She adored her dogs. And she never passed up a serving of ice cream. She was absolutely lovely always. She was gracious even to her last breath.
She peacefully passed on Wednesday morning surrounded by her family and staff who had so lovingly cared for her. The family would like to extend gratitude and affection to the staff at Glenview Wellness and Rehab (formally Heartland Manor Care of Richland Hills, Tx). To the staff who watched over her and loved her we are so incredibly grateful for each of you. You blessed her and you've blessed us.
James 1:27 Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.
She loved you all so much.
Numbers 6:22-26 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron and his sons to bless the people of Israel with this special blessing" ‘May the LORD bless you and protect you. May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you. May the LORD show you his favor and give you his peace.’
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, David, her mother and father, Clarence and Agnes Swope, a brother-in-law, Joe Monett, and nephew, Mike Monett. She is survived by her daughter, Kathie Ashur, her 3 children and 1 great granddaughter. By her son, Tim Rollins and wife, Shawna, their 4 children and 2 great granddaughters, and Sister Marie Monett. Along with nieces and nephews in Ohio.
Momma, you brought us all great joy. It is with great sadness that we must part, but with great celebration that you are healed and made whole. We will miss you always and forever.
