John P McLean

John Patrick McLean, aged 79, passed away on May 2, 2023, and is now in the hands of God. The visitation will be held on Friday, May 12th from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Monday, May 15th at 11:30 AM.

John was born on January 4th, 1944, in Sugarland, Texas to Billie and Gladys McLean. He grew up in Silsbee, Texas where he lived for many years. John graduated from Silsbee high school with honors and went on to attend Lamar University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics. He then joined the United States Air Force and attended Texas A&M, where he received a master's degree in mathematics.

In 1972, John met the love of his life on a visit back to Silsbee and later married Joyce Player. They were blessed with a son, David (“Randy”) Randolph McLean, on May 2, 1978, in Omaha, Nebraska. As a family, they lived in various places including Derby, Kansas, Albuquerque, New Mexico, and finally settled in Fort Worth, Texas.

John is survived by his devoted wife: Joyce; son: Randy and his wife Shannon McLean; grandson: Christian McLean; brothers: Henry and wife Melva and William and wife Nancy McLean; sisters: Sherry Gibson and her husband Steve, Mary Fleetwood and her husband Jim, and Barbra McLean; along with numerous nieces and nephews and their children.
