John A Malachi Jr.

John Ashton Malachi, Jr. of Fort Worth, TX passed away peacefully, Sunday, July 23, 2023. He was born March 12, 1932, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, the son of John Ashton Malachi and Rose Harris Malachi.

He graduated from Simon Gratz High School in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, Class of 1951. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy serving until 1955 at which time he honorably discharged from the Navy and joined the United States Air Force.

John met his wife, Blanche, in May of 1955 and they were married December 22, 1955. He used to say God looked at her and looked at him and shot a lightning bolt down and said, “I choose these two to be together” and they never looked back. Through their 67 years of marriage, 22 years were spent in the Air Force traveling all over the world starting at Dyess AFB, Abilene, Texas in 1955 and ending at Carswell AFB, Fort Worth, Texas, where John retired, in 1977.

After retirement from the military, he went into retail management for a while but ultimately found his second career in teaching and coaching in the Fort Worth and Crowley School Districts. His love for sports and young people made this an excellent choice and he gave his all to both up until he retired at the age of 82. One of his proudest moments was the renaming of the Coca-Cola track relays held in Crowley ISD to the Malachi Relays.

In addition to teaching and coaching, he was a dedicated member and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council 2813, also serving on the Degree Team.

John never met a stranger and had a million-dollar smile. If you spent any time with him, you knew his family meant the world to him and he felt he was truly blessed. He would tell people he had a family reunion weekly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James E. Malachi Sr. and his son, John Ashton Malachi III.

He is survived by his loving wife, Blanche, his daughters Denise M. Inman, Lisa A. Malachi, Kimberely J. Moore, and her husband Timothy A. Moore; his grandchildren Jeffery W. Inman II, John R. Inman, and Elizabeth R. Inman and his great-grandson, Ian M. Sparks. John was also a devoted Uncle to many loving nieces and nephews.
