John was born December 12, 1940 to John and Freda Dow in Mingus, Texas. He graduated Salutatorian from Strawn High School in 1958, with a competitive class of 13 students. John then went on to serve his country in the United States Army Reserve where he received an Honorable Discharge after several years of service. In 1966, John married the love of his life Barbara, who he created a beautiful family and life with. He had a long and successful career at Lennox and later went on to work for Mortex, where he retired at the age of 75. John was a sweet man and gentle soul who loved gardening, travelling, and spending quality time with his family and friends. John’s children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life, and the legacy of his kind spirit and zest for life will live on through them.
John was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Barbara Fisher Dow. His parents, John and Freda Dow. And his siblings Albert Dow, Helen Collins and Jeanne Mowery.
“Johnny Weaks” will be fondly remembered by his children; Rhonda Allen (Mark), John Dow (Monica), and Michael Dow. His grandchildren; Jennifer Pearce (Britton), Mark Allen Jr., Autumn Dow, Lauren Allen, Andrew Dow, and John Allen. Great grandchildren; Tierney Eason, Avenly Bunch, Bosten Pearce, Reylan Eason, and Sophia Allen. Siblings; Steve Dow and Annie Cook. Nieces and nephews; Paula Cupps, Debbie Moore, Dennis Mowery, Travis Mowery and Leslie Collins Tyson. He is also survived by his friends who became family, Cathy Waugh and Steven Huckabay.
