Joel Walters, aged 57, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed from this life into the next on Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018 at Community Hospice of Texas in Fort Worth. He was surrounded by his dear Wife, Carolyn Winfield Walters; son, Russell Walters; and brother, Mark Walters. Joel’s passing was unexpected, and he coped bravely with his illness, wishing only that his family would be cared for after his passing. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Joel spent his early years in his hometown of Waxahachie, Texas where, as a youth, he accepted his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Following his college years where he received his B.A. in Communication at U.T.A., he moved to the Fort Worth area where he was very active in the Calvary Cathedral International Church. There he met his wife Carolyn through the single’s ministry. They had a son, Russell, now 23.
Joel loved his work as a professional videographer, director, and writer. He worked at Superior Livestock for many years involved in videography for stock auctions, followed by freelance work for clients in the ranching business. Some of his productions included a documentary of the winningest high school coach, Leta Andrews of Granbury, “It’s all in the Game; The Leta Andrews Story” Also produced were the “Fort Worth Stockyards, a Marriage of Preservation and Progress”; and “Wall Street of the West, the Story of the Fort Worth Stockyards”, which can be viewed on PBS. His weekly productions of “The American Rancher” on RFD-TV were produced for seven years. Recent employment was at Medtronics Corporation in Fort Worth. His other interests included sports and he was active in coaching youth baseball teams and his son in the process!
Joel had a Christian life and walk with the Lord. He had a strong sense of right and wrong, and his profound love for his family who were the center of his world. He dedicated himself to making an example for family and others which would unite them instead of dividing them.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, and his son, Russell, and one brother, Mark Shawn Walters and wife Farah of Round Rock, TX; and four sisters, Linda Steele and husband W.D. of Lewisville, TX; Joy Farmer and husband C.O. of Austin, TX; Cheryl Melville and husband Hal of Farmington, Arkansas; and Gerry Campbell of Perrin, TX
Funeral Service will be held at Calvary Cathedral International on October 8th at 1pm. Burial to follow at Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery
