Jessie Mae Harris

Jessie, a retired nurse, arrived in Killeen in the 60’s and worked at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, TX. And Darnell Army Community Hospital, where she retired from in the late 80’s. After retiring, she joined the ranks of contract and travel nurses. Upon leaving Killeen in the 90’s and moving to her last place of residence, Bedford, TX, continued for another 20+ years in her career until her retirement. She was an avid traveler and loved to frequent casinos when the urge arose. Family was her greatest passion.

Jessie was preceded in death by Jessie Harris(Father) and Tennie Turner(Mother) and Virgie Stehlar(Sister). She leaves behind 3 sons: David Turner, Dennis Harris and Steve Harris; 5 siblings: Johnny Harris(Las Vegas, NV), Faye Turner(Fort Worth, TX), Phillip Turner(Brownsville, TX.), Gloria Jones(Fort Worth, TX.) and Clara Samuel(Bedford, TX.). Jessie also leaves behind a number of nieces and nephews ,along with 4 grandchildren and a host of relatives, friends and others she has impacted throughout her life of service, even after her retirement.

Cremation will take place at 1PM on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in Arlington with burial/memorial services taking place at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, TX. On August 3, 2018 beginning at 1PM.
