Jim was born in Fort Worth, TX on July 5, 1932, to William G. (Gerry) and Crystal (Owen) Llewellyn and graduated high school in Athens, Georgia in 1948. He attended the University of Texas, where he was a member of the Chi Phi fraternity and obtained his BA, LLB and law license in 1954. During that time, Jim met his wife of 69 years, Marilyn R. (Weinheimer) Llewellyn, a student at Seton School of Nursing. They married August 23rd, 1953 in her home town of Fredericksburg, Texas.
Jim was a distinguished military veteran, serving in the Army from 1954 -1956 as a radar operator, stationed in Germany. He was in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1956-1967 and was Legal Council in the General Services Administration from 1967-1987. During his 34 years of government service, he served several terms as the President of the Fort Worth Employee Federal Credit Union, was named Fort Worth Civil Servant of the Year and received numerous government commendations and awards during his tenure. He retired from the Greater Southwest Regional office of the General Services Administration in 1987.
Jim was most proud of the family he and Marilyn raised together - 8 children (7 sons and 1 daughter), 22 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents William G. and Crystal (Owen) Llewellyn, his sister Geraldine Llewellyn and his son David Llewellyn. He is survived by his wife Marilyn (Weinheimer) Llewellyn, his children Frank (Arleen) Llewellyn, Robert (Shirley) Llewellyn, John (Tina) Llewellyn, Paul Llewellyn, Steve (Shannon) Llewellyn, Sandra (Greg) Yeric, and Charles Llewellyn, 22 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and his sister Janice (Ron) Rea.
