Herman Lee Proctor, Jr., affectionately called “H.L.” by his family and friends, transitioned from earth to
glory on February 23, 2023, at his home. Herman was born June 12, 1947, to Herman and Hannah Carey
Proctor in Fort Worth, Texas. He was the eldest of four sons born to this union.
Herman attended school from the first through twelfth grade in Fort Worth, graduating from the historic
I.M. Terrell High School in 1966. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1968. After spending one
year in Vietnam, Herman was honorably discharged in 1970.
Herman worked for Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in Dallas, Texas, before relocating with the company
to Plano, Texas. He enjoyed many career accomplishments before retiring from EDS after thirty years.
Herman was a lover of Christ and the people of God. His favorite motto was, “Always Put God First.” He
worked faithfully in ministry, serving as a Deacon before becoming an Elder at Christ Centered
Missionary Baptist Church.
As an avid fan, whether they won or lost, Herman supported the Dallas Cowboys. Eventually, he joined
the fan base of another team, the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Bruins where his grandson,
Kam Brown, plays football.
Herman was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Herman, Sr. and Hannah, brother, Harvey
Proctor, and daughter, Muriel Williams.
Herman leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Harriett; sons Marshall McGraw, Arvin Proctor
and stepson Charles Michael Kneeland; stepdaughters Cheryl Brown (Larry), Charlsa Michelle Hall
(Boderick), brothers Thomas Proctor (Helen) and Walter Proctor; sisters-in-law Lois Proctor, Trudy
Tisdale (Isaiah); grandchildren Sheniqua Davenport, Anthony Davenport, Marshall McGraw, Jr., Aven Polk, Ebony
Williams, Detravious Harvey, Kristen Brown, Kaylah Brown, and Kameron Brown; twenty greatgrandchildren and a host of devoted family and friend
