Family will receive friends during visitation on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 from 6pm to 8pm at Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 11:00am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church of Keller, Texas. Interment will follow at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
She was born to Thomas O'Brien and Estelle Southworth O'Brien on May 16, 1932. She was the second of seven children; brother, Thomas O'Brien Jr., and sisters, Mary Beth Massey, Patty Wilson, Rosemary Saunders, Alice O'Brien and Joan Salcido. She was raised in San Antonio where she attended St. Mary's Catholic School from first grade to graduation in 1950.
She moved to Corpus Christi, Texas following graduation, where she met and married John "Mac" McDaniel in 1952. They were married for over 50 years and during that time lived in numerous states and Europe.
Kitty was a parishioner at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Keller for more than 30 years, and was one of its founding members. She served as the first local chapter's president of the Catholic Daughters of America. Her involvement included serving as a Eucharistic Minister, Altar Society, Women's Bunco Group, taking communion to the home bound, religious education as well as, involvement in numerous activity boards for the parish.
Kitty had a good sense of humor and frequently played harmless pranks on her siblings. Some of Kitty's favorite pastimes were gardening, fishing, bowling, dancing, birding, and cheering on the Texas Rangers.
She was a loving wife, dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was loved by all. Kitty could be sassy at times and possessed a great sense of humor. She was known for being stubborn as well as witty. Kitty will be remembered for her unshakable faith, humility and compassion. As a disciple of Christ and a servant of God she impacted many lives.
Kitty is preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters and her brother.
Kitty is survived by 6 children and their spouses, John Jr. and wife, Beverly, Shawn and husband, Mark, Brian and wife, Lecia, Margie, Mark and wife, Cindy, Mary and husband, Chris; 12 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
