Elaine was born to James Oliver Cousins and Dorrace Eleanor Cousins Blair in Fort Worth, Texas.
She graduated from OD Wyatt High School in 1969 and began working for Southwestern Bell shortly after. She held many jobs at Southwestern Bell, the first of which was an operator. During the course of her years with Southwestern Bell, she was the first woman to work in manholes splicing cable and was featured on the front page of the Fort Worth Star Telegram. She retired after 30 years with the company.
Elaine was a born again Christian with many friends from Burleson Church of Christ and churches in South Texas and Tennessee.
Her love was sewing. An excellent seamstress, making clothing, drapery, upholstery, costumes, re-enactment uniforms and period dresses.
Elaine knew something about everything. She could do electrical work, plumbing, home repair, auto repair, painting and crafts. She was always ready to help anyone in need.
Elaine is preceded in death by her father James Oliver Cousins and mother Dorrace Eleanor Cousins Blair, a stepdad Fred C. Blair, a brother Dellon Rex Cousins, and a sister Linda June Winslager.
Elaine is survived by sisters Virginia Kennedy of Fort Worth, Kathleen Turley and husband Kevin of Florida, and a brother Cleve Blair and wife Melisa of Fort Worth. Also many cousins, nieces and nephews who lovingly called her “Lanta” and others close to her heart. She was a role model for many children. We will all miss her greatly.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southcliff Baptist Church or Burleson Church of Christ.
