Dorothy Ree Stanton, age 94, of Fort Worth, Texas passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021. Mrs. Dorothy Ree Roberts-Stanton was born January 29, 1927 and was born the fifth of six children of Herman and Asaline Roberts, in Waskom, Texas. Mrs. Stanton was affectionately known as Momma, Granny, Dorothy Ree, Aunt Dorothy and Aunt Rat. She attended public schools in Marshall, Texas and later pursued her GED while attending classes at the Fort Worth Public Library in the 1970s,. At an early age, she enjoyed spending time with her siblings and her family during family events in the country. After moving to Fort Worth in the 1950s, she later met Calvin Coolidge Stanton, Sr. her husband of 49 years, who she married on April 17th 1961. They raised three Children, Fred Owens, Jr. Joann Dilworth and Calvin Stanton, Jr. (deceased). Mrs. Stanton was known for her cooking, baking cakes and pies, where she honed her skills at Finley's Cafeteria and Arlington Heights High School. She was later employed by Mr. & Mrs. John Stevenson and family, where she was loved by the entire family and retired with over 30 years of service. In 1961 she and Calvin became members of Come First Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Herbert Douglas Steptoe. During her 60 plus years of membership and service she tirelessly labored in the works of the Lord as a Deaconess, the Mission, the Usher Board, Sunday School Teacher, Senior Choir member and the Kitchen Ministry. Up until health concerns, she could be seen "sitting in her seat" on the 3rd row of the left side of the sanctuary smiling, nodding her head, and enjoying the presence of the Lord. as a resident of the Lake Como Community, Mrs. Stanton attended Neighborhood Advisory Council meetings, assisted in maintaining a clean and safe neighborhood by supporting Cowtown Brush Up efforts, and successfully attending and completing the Fort Worth Police Academy Training for Citizens on Patrol. She is preceded in death by her husband Calvin C. Stanton, Sr.; her son, Calvin C. Stanton, Jr.; her granddaughter, LaTisha D. Jackson; siblings, Estella Pierce, Eva L. Williams, Mary Davis, Jake Roberts and Louisrene Mitchell; and her dear niece, Mertis Johnson. She leaves an abundance of perpetuated memories engraved within our minds and hearts; her loving children, son, Fred Owens, Jr. and daughter, Joann Dilworth (Roosevelt); granddaughters, Patrice Franklin and Laquita Cypress; grandson, Mayland Jackson, Jr., Fredrick Mazyk and Fred E. Owens, III; great-grandchildren, Xavian Jackson, Mallory Franklin, Jr., Landon Franklin, Lauryn Jackson, Shandria Jackson, Makayland Jackson, Olivia Jackson and Mya' Jackson; and great-great granddaughter, Maddison Jae Franklin, whom she loved and cherished dearly; close nieces, nephews, and a host of many other relatives and friends.
