It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dorothy Nell McDonald, who left us on November 9, 2024, at the age of 81. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. Her presence with be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Born on July 2, 1943, in Dallas, Texas. Dorothy Nell McDonald was the daughter of Ervin Lee Wickliffe and Bertie Mae Reasenover. She grew up in India, TX and attended school in Ferris, TX. Throughout her life, Dorothy Nell McDonald was known by many from her years of working as a custodian at the Ferris School District.
She spent many years doing custodial work, health care aide, and serving demos at local stores until she retired. After retirement, her favorite hobbies were working crossword puzzles, listening to country music, and taking care of plants. She enjoyed attending family functions and looked forward to family reunions and gatherings.
On September 20, 1985, she married Gary Don McDonald and spent the last 39 years together. They resided in Ferris, TX, Ennis, TX and recently moved to Red Oak, TX.
Dorothy Nell McDonald is survived by her husband, Gary McDonald; son Darrell Lambert; son Ronnie Lambert; son Russell Wilkerson; daughter and son-in-law; Regina and Frank Jurica; 11 grandchildren, Kristyn Moore, Kaitlyn Moore, Jessica Kent, Ambert Lambert, Ashley Dowling, Ronald Hernandez, Donald Hernandez, and Danielle Chavez, Andy Price, Hannah Lambert and James Lambert; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy Nell McDonald was preceded in death by her father, Ervin Lee Wickliffe; mother, Bertie Mae Reasenover; mother and father-in-law, Charles and Jean McDonald; son, Dwight James Lambert; daughter-in-law, Cindy Lambert; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Bobbie Wickliffe; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Robert Ritchey; and brothers-in-law, Ronald McDonald and Mike McDonald.
The family invites relatives and friends to a Celebration of Dorothy Nell McDonald’s Life with a visitation at Laurel Land Funeral Home on Sunday, November 17, 2024, from 4pm to 6pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 11am followed by burial at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
