Fort Worth, TX – Delores Garcia Quevedo was born in Watauga, Texas on February 24, 1940, and passed away February 18, 2021 at the age of 80 years old. Delores, the daughter of Frank Garcia and Celia Rodriguez, was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was raised and lived in Fort Worth, Texas. She was a graduate of Trimble Tech High School and Texas Wesleyan University, and also attended master studies at Texas Women’s University. Delores was an educator with the Fort Worth ISD for over 30 years including a majority of her career with George C. Clarke Elementary. At Clark Elementary, Delores based upon her teaching accomplishments received a Lifetime Membership of PTA in addition to other teaching accolades in recognition for her years of active involvement in the school and its community. In addition, Delores also taught ESL classes at night for several years. Delores was a long-time member and former officer with the San Jose Mutual Society located in the historic Northside of Fort Worth, a member of the Edgecliff Village Fellowship and was a parishioner and volunteer for St. Andrew Catholic Church and previously of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
Following her career as an educator, Delores loved and enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren playing games, telling stories and watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports. An avid sports fan, she never missed a Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, Texas A&M Aggies, Texas Longhorns or Texas Tech Red Raiders game on television.
Delores is survived by her husband of 61 years, Richard Lopez Quevedo; her four children and their spouses, Richard “Dickie” William Quevedo (Corina), Stephen Louis Quevedo (Melissa), Melinda Anne Delk (David), Vidal Jesse Quevedo (Stephanie); and eight grandchildren, Richard Thomas Quevedo, Cal William Quevedo, Brian Christian Quevedo, Jack Rothell Delk, Alyssa Marie Quevedo, Anne Lauren Delk, Jay Wilson Quevedo and Jake Brooks Quevedo, in addition to step-grandchild Alex Maldonado. She joins her parents and brother Freddy Garcia, and leaves behind her siblings Amada Pantoja, Jesse Rodriguez, Josie Lalpuis, Rick Rodriguez, Frank Garcia, Jr., Louis Garcia, Diana Martinez and David Garcia; in addition to numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Visitation will be held on March 12, 2021 at 5:00 pm at Laurel Land Funeral Home, located at 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth, Texas. The Funeral Mass will be held on March 13, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 3312 Dryden Road, Fort Worth, Texas.
