Clymoth Ray (C.R.) Massey, 93, passed away on September 21, 2023 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born on April 9, 1930, in Burleson, Texas, to the late Edgar and Dora Leota Massey. C.R. is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne Massey; daughter, Sarah Worley and her husband Brian Worley; grandchildren, Garrick Hughes, Owen Worley, and Ana Worley; and great-grandson, Dominique Hughes; and also a large extended family of nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Dora Leota Massey; sister, Helen Wilson; brothers, Billy Massey, Frank Massey, and Charles Massey; daughter, Sherry Hughes; and son, Terry Massey.
C.R. graduated from Burleson High School. He began working at a young age, picking cotton and working at the local dairy plant, to help support his family after his father suffered a debilitating stroke. He would go on to work in real estate and insurance, but he found true fulfillment as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, as well as in his deep and abiding faith. C.R. and Jeanne are long-time members of South Hills Baptist Church, where C.R. took great pleasure in the fellowship and friendship of the congregants and members of the Sunday School class that they regularly attended.
C.R. loved being outdoors, loved working with his hands, and, above all else, loved spending time with his family. He and Jeanne took every opportunity to travel and explore the world together, but C.R. could find contentment in even the most mundane activities, as long as he was by her side. C.R. is remembered by those who knew him best as a righteous man who loved and accepted others without judgment, as a joyful man who found the greatest joy in sharing with others, and as a beacon of goodness and light who would invariably brighten any situation with his warmth, kindness, and humor.
The family will have a visitation on Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Laurel Land Funeral Home. A funeral service to honor C.R.'s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Laurel Land Funeral Home, located in Fort Worth, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in memory of C.R. be made to Meals On Wheels of Tarrant County.
Please come as you are and join us in celebrating the life of C.R. Massey and keeping his family in your thoughts and prayers.
