Charlotte A. Hogue, 79, of Fort Worth, Texas left her earthly home on April 20, 2018 after her courageous years-long battle with complications of Parkinson’s Disease. Charlotte is now resting peacefully in the arms of her heavenly Father and is now finally reunited with her handsome sailor, soulmate and best friend, Thomas S. Hogue following a whirlwind 42 year marriage that ended in his death in 1992.
Charlotte was born on February 26, 1939 in Zwolle, Louisiana to Eugene Vines and Jewel (Judy) Brown and was always surrounded by a large, loving family of brothers and sisters. Charlotte’s clear blue eyes always hinted at her mischievous nature and her quick wit and sense of humor could make even your hardest day just a little brighter. She would give you the shirt off her back if she thought you needed it and (much to Tommy’s dismay) never turned away a stray cat or dog.
Charlotte was a lifetime member of Southside Chapter OES in Fort Worth, Texas, where she proudly served as Worthy Matron from 1972 – 1973. Together, Tommy and Charlotte dedicated countless hours serving the men and women in the Home for Aged Masons in Arlington, as well being avid supporters of the Masonic Home and School for Children in Fort Worth, Texas. Charlotte was a long-standing member of Edge Park United Methodist Church.
Nothing was more important to Charlotte than being a loving wife and giving grandmother. Anyone who knew her for more than 5 minutes knew that her heart and passion was her only grandson, whom she lovingly dedicated her life’s work and was her most precious gift. When not spoiling him, Charlotte used her time and talents making each new member of the family a beautifully crocheted baby afghan. She loved to knit, needle-point, and embroidery, played on a bowling league for many years, mastered counted cross-stitch, methodically worked every jigsaw puzzles she could get her hands on as well as loving to play hand-held poker and tirelessly doting on her precious cats and beloved dogs. While Charlotte worked outside the home as a secretary, her love was in her friends and family and she cherished the time they spent together.
Charlotte is survived by her only daughter Ann Walker and son-in-law Steve of Weatherford, Texas; her only grandchild, Jonathan White of Walla Walla, Washington and numerous sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews. Known by most as “Nanny”, she also leaves behind a plethora of adopted grandchildren whom she loved as if they were her own. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas (Tommy) Hogue, along with her mother Judy Brown Sink and step-father Jerry Sink and her father, Eugene Vines.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of Charlotte’s great love for animals, the family has set up a GoFundMe account whose donations will go to a local no-killer animal shelter in her honor. To donate, please go: www.gofundme.com/charlotte-hogue-pet-memorial-fund.
