Charles Glen Stowe, born May 30, 1944 in Mangum, Oklahoma, son of Robert Clark Stowe & Wilma Lena Potter, passed from this life July 17, 2022. He graduated from Reed High School in 1962. After completing 3 years at Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Oklahoma. Charles enlisted in the U.S. Army. Upon completion of his training as a Medical Specialist, he spent his enlistment time at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington DC, receiving his Honorable Discharge on September 12, 1968.
After his discharge he was declared a 100% disabled veteran and spent many years as an Outpatient in the Dallas & Waco facilities, where he participated in the Music Clinic. He was a very accomplished musician and won many awards through his affiliation with the VA Clinic Band. They performed for various groups where Charles was a great Elvis impersonator, complete with wig & costumes. His singing & guitar have been a great part of a life that was filled with many conflicts and disappointments. Because of his disability he was never able to have a family of his own, which he so desired. Charles also served as a volunteer at the Fort Worth Public Library, where in 2000 he received Volunteer of the Year Award. He also held membership in the First Families of the Twin Territories, The majority of his life was spent with his parents until their deaths. He was always included with his brother and nieces & nephews on holidays and special events.
His faithful attendance to the Lord gave him much satisfaction. In 1959 he became a Christian and from his teenage years, he served as a song leader in various congregations. He was a member of the Highland Church of Christ.
He was predeceased by his parents, sister Gayle; and nephew Douglas. He is survived by brother, Ray Stowe and wife Nancy of Forest Hill, nephew Russell Stowe and wife Lori of Fort Worth; great nephew Robert Fox-Stowe and wife Shana of Forest Hill; great niece Jessica Harrell and husband Brad of Forest Hill; great-great niece Jai-Lynn, Madison, Liliana & great –great nephew Caden. Extended family is Cathy & Johnny Hernandez, Aleisha & Austin Arlington.
Visitation will be at The Laurel Land Funeral Home and Services at the Highland Church of Christ. Burial at the Laurel Land Memorial Park.
