Charles William (CW) Hattaway, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 27, 2022 at the age of 96.
CW served in the US Navy in WWII on the USS Antietam CV36. He also served 21 years in the US Air Force, at many bases across the US and abroad, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant excelling in bomber mechanics. After retiring from the military, he furthered his education by attending college at TCJC and became a HVAC technician. Throughout his life he enjoyed vacationing with his family seeing what this great country, that he defended, had to offer. He enjoyed the occasional beer and grilling steaks and burgers at the American Legion where he served as Commander for several years. He enjoyed playing in military golf tournaments with his buddies.
CW is survived by his loving wife Charlotte; his sister Carolyn Matchefts; his 2 daughters Carolyn Dawson and Bernadine (Ron) Carney; by 5 grandchildren Christine, Connie and Catherine, Stephanie and Michael. And his many other beloved family and friends.
CW is preceded in death by his first wife of 33 years Dortha Lee, a second wife of 20 years Bobby, his parents George and Eula Mae Hattaway, his son Henry, grandson Craig and 2 brothers Frank and Charlie.
